Job diary: restaurant upgrades and a conservatory lighting call-out

More progress at Beauly Tandoori

We were back at Beauly Tandoori on 27 October, continuing the electrical work as part of the restaurant’s full renovation.

The main focus was replacing more consumer units, alongside further inspection and testing of the existing installation.

That testing uncovered more faults, including deteriorating cabling that we identified as a potential source of intermittent tripping. Finding these issues during the planned work gives us a clearer picture of what needs attention, rather than leaving problems to appear further down the line.

We also looked at the new alarm system planned for the restaurant and ordered the components needed for the installation. That part of the work is still ahead of us.

And, as often happens with a renovation, the ideas keep coming! As the customer develops their plans for the restaurant, our job list keeps growing too.

It’s an ongoing project, with consumer-unit upgrades, fault finding and planning for the next stage all happening alongside one another. There’s plenty of work behind the scenes before the finished restaurant is ready.

A conservatory call-out on the way home

On the way home, we picked up a call-out from a customer who reported a power cut and said her lights had not been working since the recent storm.

Our investigation traced the lighting fault to the old transformer supplying the conservatory lights. We replaced all four lights, restoring the lighting and giving the ceiling a consistent, matching finish.

The photographs show the old transformer and the finished result, with all four replacement lights working.
