Outdoor electrics in Inverness & the Highlands

Outdoor sockets, exterior lighting and electrical supplies for sheds, garages and garden projects, planned for the location and intended use.

Make outdoor power part of the plan

An outside socket or a supply to an outbuilding needs more thought than the fitting alone. We consider the existing installation, intended load, cable route and exposure to weather before agreeing the work. Caledonia Electrical Highlands Ltd serves homes and businesses across Inverness and the Highlands.

Outdoor socket installation

Tell us where the socket is needed and what you expect to plug in. The condition and capacity of the existing circuit, the route to the new point and the required protection affect the installation. We choose equipment and an arrangement suited to the location.

Power to a shed, garage or garden room

Start with the equipment you plan to use: lighting alone is a different requirement from heaters, workshop tools or other substantial loads. Mention future plans too, so the proposed supply can be assessed with those in mind.

Distance, ground conditions and the available cable route affect the quote. We agree responsibility for any excavation, reinstatement or building work before starting. Photos of the route and the outside of your consumer unit are useful; keep electrical covers in place.

Garden and security lighting

We can help with practical lighting for doors, paths, garages and outdoor work areas. Positioning, glare, neighbouring properties and the control method all matter. Tell us whether you want a manual switch, a sensor or another arrangement. For lighting inside the property, see our lighting installation service.

Equipment with its own requirements

Hot tubs, pumps and other fixed equipment can have specific supply and isolation requirements. Send the manufacturer information before booking so we can assess the installation. An EV charger also needs a dedicated assessment; use our charging page for the details we need.

Arrange an outdoor electrical quote

Send your postcode, the approximate distance from the property and what you want to power. We discuss the proposed route, access and any associated work before confirming the scope. If an existing outdoor circuit is tripping or has been damaged, our electrical fault-finding service can investigate it.

For larger outdoor supplies, commercial sites and distribution work, see our commercial and industrial electrical services.

Before you book

Your questions, answered

Can you run power to a detached garage?

Yes, subject to assessment of the existing supply, intended load and cable route. Tell us the distance and what equipment the garage will contain.

Does the cable always have to go underground?

The appropriate route depends on the property, conditions and intended installation. We assess the options on site rather than selecting a route from distance alone.

Can you provide a supply for a hot tub?

We can assess the electrical work. Please send the exact model and manufacturer requirements before booking, along with photographs of the proposed location.

What affects the price of outdoor electrical work?

The distance, cable route, fittings, required protection and any excavation or associated building work all affect the quote. We explain what is included before work begins.
