The finished room
This was a complete Caledonia project. We designed, planned and built the walk-in wardrobe from scratch, including the lighting and all the work involved in the finished room. The photograph shows fitted storage, a dressing table, ceiling lights and an illuminated mirror.

Plan the lights around the furniture
Built-in wardrobes, shelves and a dressing table affect where light is useful. When planning a similar room, share the furniture layout as well as the room dimensions. The place where you stand, sit or use a mirror matters when deciding on fitting positions.
Ceiling lighting and lighting near a mirror serve different tasks. Think about which lights you would like to control together and where switches will be convenient before the layout is finalised.
Discuss the electrical work before the room is finished
For a new layout, cable access, ceiling construction, existing wiring and coordination with the fitted furniture all affect the work. Send drawings and the exact fittings you have in mind so we can discuss suitability and access before quoting.
Our lighting installation service covers replacements, downlights, LED upgrades and controls. For a wider refurbishment, use our renovation electrical planning guide and domestic services.
Planning your own space?
Send your postcode, photographs of the room and whether you are replacing fittings or creating a new layout. Caledonia is based in Inverness and arranges work across the Scottish Highlands. We will discuss the scope and whether a visit is needed.
